The Octopus Pestemal Set consists of a full sized towel and a complimentary smaller sized hand/hair towel from theOctopus Traditionally Produced Pestemal Towelline. These exquisite, stable, flat-woven hammam towels have a characteristically unique and lively look thanks to their unusual weave design. The reverse side features a negative image weave of the front design.
The full sized towel dimensions are 175 x 95 cm makes a great bath, shower, travel, spa, wellness and lounge towel as well as a super cute baby blanket. The smaller towel dimensions are 100 x 44 cm and this towel makes a great hand and hair towel or can be used as decorative guest towel.
The Octopus pestemal is manufactured on a semi-automatic loom, known as a black loom, which is operated by hand and needs to be constantly monitored. Therefore the production is time-consuming and needs a lot of artisanal know-how. I purchase the 100% cotton Octopus traditionally produced pestemal directly from a weaver family in Turkey. This family has been weaving pestemals in their home atelier for many generations. They use various simple machines for the production of hamam towels, for example two types of semi-automatic looms and a small machine to wind up the thread on to the bobbins. The beautiful Octopus Pestemal Set comes in five different colors: black, royal blue, red, turquoise and pink on a white background.

Treat you’s Octopus Pestemal Set towels can be machine washed at 40°C in the regular cyle. I strongly recommend that you wash these towels for the first time at 30°C to truly maintain their color and feeling. I also recommend that you first hang dry these towels directly after washing, and then feel free to give your towel a light fluff in your dryer for about 10 minutes to keep them cozy.
